Installing mesh in an ECO Frame only takes a few minutes and can save you the time and expense of sending screens out to be re-meshed. Follow these steps for the best results:

1. Prepare the frame. Place the ECO Frame on a clean, flat surface and make sure all four locking strips are installed in the frame.
2. Choose your mesh panel. Select the appropriate mesh count and thread type (Hi-TEX or Hi-DRO) for your job. The mesh panel tag identifies the mesh count and thread type.
3. Flip the plastic edge. Before inserting the mesh into the frame, fold each plastic edge over once. This is the MOST IMPORTANT step as it provides additional support and allows the locking strip to seat properly.
4. Insert the mesh. Place the folded plastic edge into the locking strip channel, centering the mesh in the frame. Install the long sides first, followed by the short sides. If the mesh tag gets in the way, use a squeegee blade or another smooth tool to gently press it into the channel.
5. Stretch the mesh. Using the ECO Frame stretching tool, tension the long sides first, then the short sides. Stretch slowly and evenly until you hear the locking strip click into place. Pulling too quickly can damage the mesh or reduce its lifespan.
6. Check the tension. If you have a tension meter, measure the screen tension. The initial reading will be high, but the mesh will naturally relax as it settles.
7. Protect and rest the screen. Apply tape over the outside locking strips to protect the mesh from reclaiming chemicals and accidental damage. Allow the screen to rest for at least 12 hours before degreasing, coating with emulsion, and exposing your design. For the most demanding work, such as halftones or process printing, letting the mesh fully settle helps ensure the best registration and print quality. At this point you should be able to test the screen with the tension meter and you should be ready to go!

Pro Tip: Stretching the long sides first and taking your time during tensioning will produce the most even mesh tension and the longest-lasting screen. Once you've installed a few panels, the entire process can be completed in just a couple of minutes.
