Why do screens need to have good mesh tension?Updated 3 hours ago

Proper screen tension is essential for sharp prints, accurate registration, and consistent results. As a general guideline, 20 newtons (N/cm) is considered the minimum tension for quality printing, while 25 N/cm or higher is ideal for most applications.

Traditional static frames naturally lose tension over time, and unfortunately there's no way to prevent it completely. As the mesh relaxes, print quality and registration can suffer. When a screen no longer holds adequate tension, you have a few options: replace it with a new screen, send the frame out to be re-meshed, or, if you're using a retension-able frame system, simply install a new mesh panel.
